Dyeing your clothes is the most chemical part of the clothing industry. To provide your clothes with a nice color, a lot of water and chemicals are needed. Unfortunately, these substances end up in nature and in (drinking) water. Fortunately, there are sustainable alternatives to synthetic paint, just from nature. Fashion designer Emma Nuis from Ikigaia dyes her fabrics as much as possible with paint from nature. The nice thing is, you can find these plants and flowers in the wild, but also in your own home and garden. In this workshop you will learn to dye your clothes in a natural way.

What to bring?

Bring your favorite piece of clothing or textiles. This can be an old white tea towel, T-shirt, shorts, scarf or a set of vintage napkins. Please note that it is made of a natural fiber; cotton, linen, silk, bamboo or wool. You will give these a second life by means of the pigments from plants and flowers. All garments must be pre-washed, preferably with a little baking soda in the washing drum.
