④ Interact during the night with the keyplayers from the Blue Economy.
The Blue Economy means a different economical mindset. The basic needs are taken care of by that which is locally available. Based on the way nature works, inspired by collaboration instead of competition. A ‘Blue Business Model’ harnesses multiple revenue streams, among them ones that use the output, formerly known as waste from one process to use it as input for another. The Blue Economy has the intrinsic goal to create new jobs and build op social capital without polluting or exhausting the (natural) surroundings. A well known example is Rotterdam’s own Rotterzwam.
As CEO of Ecover, Gunter Pauli discovered that the palm oil the company used in its ecological cleaning materials was still, heavily exhausting the indonesian rainforests. It shouldn’t be the goal to create a healthy society in Europe while hurting the environment in indonesia. Pauli concluded that it isn’t about doing less harm, it is about doing good. With the Blue Economy as the revolutionary model flowing from that mindset.
