Bioneers, entrepreneurs of the circular city
How can bioneers with great concepts for a circular economy – like edible packaging or a coating made from fungi – best be supported in growing their idea?
Circular concepts need nourishment in terms of attention and resources to develop into a business model that works in the city of tomorrow.
In the economy of today, the lack of time and money for this resilient growth – from idea to concept to thriving model – often holds back this growth. Current business models do integrate our desperate desire for a circular economy, yet we have only started to realize the system that brings circular concepts to the next phase.
In this Border Sessions Lab, we build a mini bio-accelerator for natural solutions for one day. You are a bioneer, working on realizing a concept that will help us live within the limits of our earth again. Also, policymakers or consultants who are curious about how they can help bioneers thrive are encouraged to join this Lab and be a bioneer for one day. The event takes place in the makerspace of BlueCity. Using methods like visualization, future-business-model calculation, biomimicry and pitching, you leave the day with a bio-business plan which enables to make a next step towards the breakthrough that you want to achieve and society is so very much longing for.
1. How can a system be fostering for bioneers – instead of pushing them to work with existing business models – models that did little to preserve our earth in the past years?
2. How do you pay for your development time as a bioneer?
3. How can bioneers best collaborate with other entrepreneurs, team members, organisations, owners of waste streams?
Bioneers (to be) are welcome!

What we will do
Pick one of the three preselected bio-concepts that will help society get back in balance with nature.
- bio coating
- edible food-packaging
- circular textiles
You are going to harvest input for an incubator formula and enjoy a positive and insightful day together with like-minded, lovely bioneers (to-be). Together, we strengthen the support system for bioneers and stimulate an infrastructure for startups that work on circular solutions.
